Mass demonstration demands “Right to Hope”, physical freedom for Leader Ocalan

Under the slogan, “We Will Escalate the Struggle and Free the Leader Physically,” hundreds of people from the cities of Hasakah, Tal Tamr, Al-Darbasiyah, Al-Hol, Tal Brak, and Al-Shaddadi gathered in Freedom Square in central Hasakah to demand the right to hope and physical freedom for Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

The event began with a minute of silence, followed by a speech from Zahra Al-Ali, co-chair of the Democratic Union Party office in Hasakah, who emphasized that all communities have become “one spirit thanks to the leader’s thought, which united all oppressed peoples.”

She added: “Through this mass gathering, we demand the freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan and call on international organizations to grant him the right to hope. This issue requires a serious and responsible stance from all of us.”

Al-Ali also stressed the importance of all communities to “cooperate and support each other,” calling on European countries to urgently intervene to implement the leader’s right to hope.

Meanwhile, Jihad Hassan, an official in the Democratic Society Movement, noted that for 26 years, Leader Ocalan has faced a fascist enemy from prison, one that rejects peace and diversity, pointing out that the nation-state continues to escalate pressures daily to achieve its goals.

Hassan stated: “While everyone is preoccupied with killing, wars, and calls for armament and strategic expansion, Leader Abdullah Ocalan has been the different voice, advocating peace and calling for a new era to save peoples from bloodshed through his ‘Peace and Democratic Society’ initiative, based on coexistence among all peoples and sects.”

Hassan emphasized that the ongoing struggle, which has lasted fifty years, “is only the beginning of a new phase and a renewed method of struggle.”

The mass rally concluded with participants chanting slogans affirming their determination to continue the struggle until Leader Abdullah Ocalan is freed.
