Martyrs’ Families: SDF sacrifices helped protect the region’s peoples

Families of martyrs in Garkê Legê in the Jazira said the Syrian Democratic Forces had made major sacrifices in confronting ISIS and protecting the region’s various communities. They stressed the need to preserve the rights of the peoples and the gains achieved through the sacrifices of the martyrs, while emphasizing the importance of peace and an end to wars.

Hussein Hajo said the Syrian Democratic Forces were established to protect all communities in the region, highlighting the role played by the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) in confronting terrorist organizations and making sacrifices to protect the region.

Hajo added that people from the region had lost large numbers of fighters and suffered many injuries during the years of war, stressing that the families of martyrs would never forget the sacrifices of their loved ones and that the security and stability enjoyed by residents today had been achieved thanks to those sacrifices.

He noted that since its establishment, the Syrian Democratic Forces had brought together different communities of the region, including Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs and others. He said the participation of these communities and their sacrifices in confronting ISIS had been a source of pride for the people of the region.

Hajo stressed that the Kurdish people did not want war but sought peace and coexistence among peoples, while emphasizing the need to guarantee Kurdish rights and preserve the gains achieved through the sacrifices of the martyrs.

For her part, Zahra Mousa, a member of the Council of Martyrs’ Families in Garkê Legê, said the sacrifices made by the Syrian Democratic Forces had helped protect the peoples of the region, noting that SDF fighters had defended Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs and Armenians and helped safeguard their existence.

Zahra explained that these sacrifices had contributed to providing security and stability for the peoples of the region. She stressed that the families of the martyrs remained committed to preserving the rights and gains of their children and ensuring that their sacrifices were not in vain.

She called for the next phase to guarantee the rights and gains of the Kurdish people and the families of martyrs, expressing hope that the coming period would mark a step toward consolidating peace and stability in Syria.

Meanwhile, Hevin Ahmed, daughter of martyr Ahmed, said the Syrian Democratic Forces had been established to protect the region’s areas and peoples from attacks, noting that the sacrifices made by its fighters had helped protect residents and preserve their identity and rights.

She added that the people of the region had been able to preserve their language and culture, exercise their rights and strengthen the role of women thanks to the sacrifices made by the martyrs, stressing that their families would never forget what they had given.

Hevin Ahmed concluded by calling for Kurdish rights to be protected during the transition to the next phase, saying that preserving these rights and gains was part of honoring the sacrifices of the martyrs and that peace should form the foundation of the coming phase.
