March supports YPJ, its representation in Ministry of Defense

As part of the campaign supporting the Women's Protection Units (YPJ), announced by the Joint Events Platform of Women's Movements and Organizations in Rojava on April 26th, the Kongra Star organized on Wednesday a march in support of the YPJ in Qamishlo.

Hundreds of residents of the city participated in the march, along with female fighters from the YPJ.

The march began at the Sony Roundabout and proceeded towards al-Shuhadaa (The Martyrs) Roundabout, passing through the city's central market, during which the participants shouted slogans praising the resistance of the YPJ and slogans such as "The YPJ is our existence." They also held banners with "We are all YPJ," "YPJ represents us," and "YPJ protects the identity of free women" written on.

After the march reached al-Shuadaa Square in Qamishlo, the participants held a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs. Then, Jawahir Othman; the member of the Kongra Star in Qamishlo, spoke, emphasizing that women find their true representation in the Women's Protection Units (YPJ). She pointed out that these units have played a pivotal role in protecting women and societal values, as they comprise the women of the region who have resisted various attacks targeting the area, particularly those aimed at women and their will.

Othman added that YPJ has triumphed over the "forces of darkness," becoming a model for women worldwide.

In a related context, she stressed the necessity of integrating YPJ into the Syrian Ministry of Defense, warning that its exclusion would marginalize women's role in the new constitution, and calling on the Interim Government to change its approach in this regard.

Othman concluded by affirming that women reject this direction and will continue to support YPJ.

At the end of the march, the participants chanted slogans of solidarity with YPJ.
