March in Derbasiyah on Kurdish Language Day occasion, demanding its constitutional recognition

Derbasiyah city witnessed a mass rally on Sunday organized by the Culture and Art Movement to celebrate Kurdish Language Day, in which hundreds of residents, members of civil institutions and councils, as well as youth and women's movements participated.

The march began in front of the Martyr Zevin Park, amid the participants holding banners with "Our language is our identity" and "Our right must be guaranteed in the constitution" written on.

Upon reaching the Culture and Art Center, the rally transformed into a vigil, during which a statement was read by the center member Hewlêr Hesso.

The statement noted that the Kurdish language has been subjected to attempts at annihilation and suppression throughout history, and emphasized that the Kurdish language represents the identity and culture of the Kurdish people.

The statement called for its official recognition in the Syrian constitution and for guaranteeing the right to education in the mother tongue, while affirming the continuation of the struggle to achieve these rights.

The march concluded with artistic, musical, and theatrical performances by the Martyr Viyan and Martyr Sema troupes, highlighting the importance of the Kurdish language and its role in preserving identity and culture.
