Lighting candles at Martyrs' Shrines in Qamishlo on eve of Newroz

The Martyrs' Families Council in Qamishlo held a candle-lighting ceremony today at the martyrs' shrines in the Martyr Dalil Sarukhan Shrine, on the eve of Newroz, as part of the Newroz celebrations, to honor the martyrs' struggle and commemorate their sacrifices.

The martyrs' families and residents of the city participated in the event, gathering in front of the shrines and lighting candles amidst an atmosphere of pride, affirming their commitment to the path of their sons who sacrificed their lives for freedom and dignity.

The event included a speech by Muhyiddin Hassan, a member of the Martyrs' Families Council, who emphasized the importance of commemorating the martyrs on national occasions, particularly Newroz, which symbolizes resistance and rebirth. He noted that the martyrs' sacrifices were fundamental to achieving these gains.

At the conclusion of the event, the Newroz torch was lit in front of the shrine, transforming the atmosphere into a symbolic celebration reflecting the meanings of resilience and renewal. Those present expressed their commitment to continuing the path of the martyrs.

The Newroz celebrations are scheduled to resume tomorrow, Tuesday, March 24, at 11:00 AM in the March 12 Stadium in Qamishlo. The event was originally scheduled for March 21 but was postponed due to inclement weather.
