Lawyers: Turkey committing war crime in all international laws

The Turkish occupation state continues its attacks on the NE Syria region, targeting infrastructure and service facilities in all sectors, educational, health, and economic, without paying attention to the disasters that will result from the attacks, amid continued international silence regarding these attacks.

Member of the Bar Association in Raqqa and member of the General Council of the Autonomous Administration, Khaled Al-Hassan, who denounced the attacks of the Turkish occupation state on the NE Syria region, explained: “In addition to targeting infrastructure, energy sources, and schools, the Turkish occupation state targeted children and women, and targeted Christian brothers in Their glorious holiday is Easter, and this is a clear violation of the sanctity of religions.”

Al-Hassan called on all human rights and international organizations around the world to look into these crimes, which amount to international war crimes. He stressed that Article 8 of the Rome Statute criminalizes all attacks targeting infrastructure, children, women, and hospitals.

The human rights activist, Khaled Al-Hassan, stated: “On this day, we shed light on these crimes, and we call on all human rights organizations that apply double standards in this field to bear their moral and humanitarian duty, and we call on our people throughout Syria to go out to the streets to support their brothers, and to put pressure on the international public opinion, to bring Erdogan to trial for these heinous crimes."

A war crime in all international laws and regulations

In turn, member of the Lawyers Union in North and East Syria, Saleh Salama, said: “In these days that we must live in peace, the Turkish state has violated all means of peace, as it struck the infrastructure and energy sources and caused the fall of many martyrs, and this is a war crime in all the International laws and regulations mean.”

Salama appealed: “The United Nations, international justice organizations, and human rights organizations to stop the arrogance of the Turkish state,” and stressed: “We, as lawyers and jurists, offer the strongest expressions of condemnation of this barbaric behavior that amounts to war crimes.”

Lawyer Abdullah al-Erian explained: “Targeting infrastructure such as electricity, bread, and drinking water harms the people.” al-Erian asked all lawyers and jurists in NE Syria, and Syria in general, to: “Let the world understand our issue, the issue of the Syrian people in general, the Syrian issue is stuck and there is no development in it, so lawyers must exclusively make the world understand the difficulty of the Syrian issue.”
