Journalist Suleiman’s lawyer: KDP authorities violating law, and Suleiman’s fate is unknown

One of the lawyers for journalist Suleiman Ahmed, who was kidnapped by the Kurdistan Democratic Party authorities, said that the charges against him are false and baselessŞ Because Suleiman officially entered Rojava and officially returned from there, and has official residency in southern Kurdistan, and he had no legal problems until he was kidnapped.

Nariman Ahmed Rashid, one of journalist Suleiman’s lawyers, explained that they have formed a team of lawyers since his kidnapping; To review his file, they met with the Asayish of Dohuk.

Rashid said: “The Dohuk Asayish said that journalist Suleiman was with them, but when we visited them they did not allow us to meet our client, and they claimed that he was not there with them.”

The lawyer revealed that: “Some of the prisoners present with journalist Suleiman, who were released, confirmed that he is in the custody of Asayish Dohuk.”

Lawyer Nariman Ahmed Rashid added that they obtained permission from the judge to meet with journalist Suleiman, open a file and hire lawyers for him, but they were subjected to pressure in this regard.

The lawyer continued: “The Asayish of Dohuk were visited several times, but they did not allow us to meet with him, even though the law allows the detainee to meet with his lawyer 24 hours after his arrest, but the Asayish of the Kurdistan Democratic Party do not implement the laws of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.”

The lawyer pointed out: “We also contacted many international bodies and the United Nations to put pressure on the Kurdistan Regional Government so that we could meet with our client.”

Journalist Suleiman's lawyer, Nariman Ahmed Rashid, explained, "In general, we can say that the fate of journalist Suleiman is unknown, and that the Dohuk Asayish are dealing with us, the lawyers, illegally and in violation of international conventions."

The Kurdistan Democratic Party authorities continue to conceal the fate of the journalist, Suleiman Muhammad Ahmed, after kidnapping him more than 2 months ago, without any information being received from him, despite calls and appeals launched by media centers and bodies
