Kurdish women characterized with courage, valor

Leader Abdullah Ocalan says about women and the revolution: "The Rojava Revolution is a women's revolution." Women resisted and fought bravely during the war, making the Rojava Revolution a women's revolution. Women were inspired by the guidance of leader Abdullah Ocalan, strengthened their resistance, and fought with even greater bravery. The intellectual and organizational strength of the people of Rojava is based on the tremendous efforts made by the Kurdish people's leader, Abdullah Ocalan, over the years. The leader struggled in Rojava, Kurdistan for 19 years, trained the people, and brought them to the stage of revolution. 

 The commander of the Women's Protection Units (YPJ), Leyla Washokani, spoke to our agency about this topic.

 The leader Leyla Vashokani began her speech by saying: "First, as we know, men have a dominant mentality, and it is certain that women and children are the most affected and the primary victims in conflicts and wars. As we know, the world is witnessing the peak of the Third World War, where humanity is being violated in Kurdistan, the Middle East, and the world, and the current crisis is escalating. In the face of these attacks and aggressions, it is imperative to engage in an unparalleled resistance and struggle, especially with the daily occurrence of femicides in society, as a result of the small-state mentality, which is a continuation of the capitalist nation-state mentality and its own war."

 "The woman's strong stance has made all women feel proud and honored."

 The commander Leyla Washokani touched on the Rojava Revolution or the Women's Revolution, saying: "Kurdish women engaged in the revolution and its activities with all their strength. When the spark of war ignited, women organized themselves on one hand and took their places on the front lines and fought bravely on the other. The courageous women, with their will and determination, fought alongside men against the most dangerous forces in the world and wrote heroic epics. The impact of women's resistance was so great that it instilled fear in the hearts of ISIS/Daesh mercenaries."

 There has truly been no equal to the struggle of Kurdish women. The fight of the female fighters and freedom fighters has become a legacy for women striving for freedom and a motivation for them to organize themselves and build a confederal and democratic society in the future. From now on, women can live with pride and confidence, for we are here and we want our freedom. Leader Abdullah Ocalan says regarding the issue of women, "If a woman does not liberate herself, no man will ever liberate her, and she will remain a slave." Therefore, women must trust themselves, struggle, and achieve their freedom by themselves.

 The woman added her touch and style to fighting and life and led the man.

 Women have inscribed their names in the pages of history with golden letters and reached the pinnacle of courage. The resistance of women on the frontlines is what allowed the Rojava Revolution to be called the Women's Revolution. Women have won and triumphed with their brave, heroic, and majestic stance.

 The commander Leyla Washokani continued her speech, saying: "The leadership of women in the Rojava Revolution has inspired all women and all revolutionary and freedom-seeking forces. The female fighters and freedom fighters fought until their last breath in defense of women and society, sacrificing their lives without hesitation and transcending to a state of immortality. The resistance of women in Rojava is rare and unparalleled. The actions of these brave women have called for struggle and pushed people to revolt and fight. Dozens of young women have given up everything and joined the ranks of the revolution, fighting with courage."

 The female fighters and guerrillas led the battles on the front lines and proved themselves in the war zones. Women resisted and fought in the city of Kobani, in al-Jazira region, and in Afrin. The fighters made their bodies shields to defend women and society. As we all know, this resistance resulted in the establishment of the Women's Protection Units, which are strengthening day by day. The Women's Protection Units have led all the campaigns of the Rojava Revolution and continue to struggle in the battlefields with faith and confidence.

 The commander of the Women's Protection Units, Leyla Washokani, concluded her speech by saying: "The women of Kurdistan, who have long been subjected to assault and captivity by enemies, are now leaders, pioneers, and protectors. The female fighters have become symbols of strength and courage that threaten enemies and invaders. The valiant fighters avenged the enemies and oppressors for their oppression over the past 5,000 years. The female fighters like Arin Mirkan, Zahran Banabr, Vian Biman, Rivan Kobani, Avista Khabur, Rosyar, Barin Kobani, and dozens of other heroines who sacrificed their lives for their land and dignity have become goddesses and stars shining in the sky of freedom."
