Kurdish politician: Kurdish National Conference will not be at expense of other components.

The Progressive Democratic Party of Syrian Kurdistan organized a special session today in the city of al-Hasakah, focusing on the Syrian situation after the fall of the Ba'ath regime, the prospects for the future, the real dilemmas facing the Syrians, and the situation in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria in light of the challenges and potential threats to civil peace.

Representatives of political parties, sheikhs of Arab and Kurdish tribes, as well as components of the city of al-Hasakah, attended the session at the Marbella restaurant in the Tal Hajar neighborhood.

The session began with a minute of silence, then the Deputy Secretary of the Progressive Democratic Party of Syrian Kurdistan, Ahmad Suleiman, spoke and said: "We have gotten rid of a phase that left a legacy of discrimination, repression, and exclusion. The previous regime could have taken steps to spare our country and the people of Syria all the calamities that befell them, especially the situation after the crisis that swept through Syria, and the Syrian opposition has not been able to convince the Syrian people and the international community to be an alternative."

Suleiman noted that "for 12 years, the international community agreed to keep the previous regime for one reason only: there was no better alternative, and the international community was always concerned that the alternative would be radical Islam and terrorist forces."

Regarding the situation in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria amid the challenges and potential threats to civil peace, Ahmed Suleiman, Deputy Secretary of the Progressive Democratic Party of Syrian Kurdistan, said: "The entry of American influence into the regions of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the issue of ISIS have made it a sensitive area and a sphere of influence. If all components of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria asked America to leave Syria or the regions of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, it would not leave, because its entry was not decided by any of us, and neither would its exit, because its interests control its presence and absence."

Suleiman pointed out that "what is required from all components of the Syrian people and the regions of the North and East Syria region in particular is to maintain civil peace and not to be part of any regional, international, or internal contradiction."

He added, "There are those in power in Damascus who are still on the terrorism lists, and we hope they change themselves. So far, the statements of the interim government have been generally positive." He continued, "The practical reality in Syria is still the same as the previous regime."

Suleiman indicated that "the new Syrian administration needs a lot of support from the international community, provided that all components of the Syrian people are involved in building the new Syria."

He confirmed that "holding the Kurdish conference will not be at the expense of other components in the region of North and East Syria, but rather to protect the legitimate rights of the Kurdish component."

Then the floor was opened for discussion among the attendees about holding a national conference that brings together all Syrians, and avoiding strife and division among all components of the Syrian people.
