KRC launches medical aid program for IDPs in Jazira, Kobani

Supported by Medico Switzerland, the KRC announced the humanitarian initiative to provide treatment for displaced people requiring urgent medical intervention. The program will fully or partially cover medical expenses based on assessments conducted by a specialized medical committee.

According to the program's administration, the initiative was launched in July and will continue until the end of 2026, targeting displaced people in the Jazira and Kobani regions.

Speaking to ANHA, Zana Mousa, Director of the Projects Office at the KRC, said the project was established to assist displaced people, particularly low-income families and those facing critical medical conditions.

He explained that the program covers patients requiring surgical operations as well as those suffering from chronic diseases. Cases are first evaluated by a specialized medical committee before being approved by the KRC, which then refers patients to private hospitals for treatment.

Mousa added that the support includes the costs of surgeries, medical tests, and medications, helping ease the financial burden on displaced families while ensuring patients receive the care they need in a timely manner.

He also noted that the KRC continues to provide services through its mobile medical clinics, reaching displaced people in remote areas who are unable to access healthcare centers.

The program comes amid growing healthcare needs among displaced communities and aims to ensure access to treatment for urgent cases that cannot be delayed while reducing health risks resulting from limited financial resources.
