Kongra Star holds meeting in Hasaka on March 8th

As part of the International Women's Day (March 8th) events, the Kongra Star held a public meeting on Monday at the Culture and Art Center in the Mufti neighborhood of Hasaka city. The meeting witnessed wide participation from women in the city, members of women's organizations, and the Kongra Star.

The meeting began with holding a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs. Then, Khalida Bouti; the member of the Kongra star Coordination, delivered a speech about the symbolism of March 8th and the reasons for its designation as International Women's Day, noting that this day is the result of a long struggle waged by thousands of working women who faced oppression and even death for the sake of their rights.

Khalida Bouti emphasized that thousands of women in New York struggled for improved working conditions, fair wages, and equitable working hours. Thanks to these sacrifices, women today play an active role in various fields of life around the world.

She also highlighted the role of activist Clara Zetkin, whose struggle contributed to the adoption of March 8th as International Women's Day, affirming that the women's revolution continues to this day, guided by the ideology of leader Abdullah Ocalan and the spirit of free, working women.

She also spoke of the sacrifices of thousands of women who were martyred for freedom, recalling the martyr Sakine Cansız and emphasizing that women's resistance today is a fruit of the leader's ideology.

Khalida Bouti stressed that the liberation of society is directly linked to the freedom of women, saying, "If women do not assert their ideology in society, society will not become free, democratic, and equal. Women are half of society, and societies are built thanks to them."

She concluded by emphasizing the necessity of unifying ranks and supporting one another to build a free and democratic society, noting that the March 8th resistance continues in order to protect all women in the world.
