HASAKA

The Kongra Star in the cities of Hasaka, Tel Tamr, al-Shaddadi and ed-Dirbasiyah in the Jazira region issued separate statements on Saturday condemning the murder of the young woman Shirin Osi in Jindires district of the occupied city of Afrin, stressing that the crime comes in the context of escalating systematic violence and crimes against women.

Hasaka city

In the context, the Kongra Star in Hasakah issued a statement in front of its headquarters in al-Nasra neighborhood, in the presence of women's organizations and administrators of civil society institutions and communes. The statement was read by Bayan Othman, the member of the Hasaka Kongra Star administration, who strongly condemned the crime.

The statement emphasized that the killing of the young woman, Shirin Osi, was not an isolated incident, but rather the culmination of a long series of oppression, torture, and domestic injustice she was exposed to at the hands of her husband and his family. It indicated that what happened was the result of violence that ended in a heinous murder and attempts to falsify the facts and hide behind the pretext of "honor."

The statement demanded that the victim's husband and his family be held accountable as those directly responsible for the crime. It warned the security and judicial authorities in Janders against accepting suicide narratives or socially justifying the crime, and stressed the necessity of an independent forensic medical examination of the body.

The statement also rejected any attempts to dilute the case through tribal reconciliations, calling on human rights and international organizations to monitor the investigations and to pressure for the activation of deterrent laws that protect women.

The statement concluded with the slogans, "Women Are Life, Do Not Kill Life" and "No to Killing Women."

Tel Tamr city

In the city of Tel Tamr, the Kongra Star issued a statement at the Martyrs' Families Council garden, with the participation of female members of civil society organizations, female representatives of political parties, and women from the city.

The statement was read in Arabic by Sanaa al-Thamer; the administrator of the Kongra Star, and in Kurdish by the city council's member Nalin Sido.

The statement condemned the crime committed against the young woman Shirin Osi in the occupied Afrin. It noted that there was information indicating signs of beatings and abuse on the victim's body, amid attempts to promote narratives of suicide or gunshot wounds.

The statement emphasized that the absence of justice in the areas occupied by Turkey and its mercenaries prevents the victim's family from disclosing all the details, reflecting a clear state of impunity. It demanded a serious and independent investigation, calling on the international community to condemn the violations against women and hold the perpetrators accountable.

Al-Shaddadi city

The Kongra Star in the city of al-Shaddadi issued a statement in front of the Kongra building, with the participation of the female members from various institutions and committees. The statement was read by the Kongra Star member Manal al-Faraj.

The statement condemned the killing of women in general, and the murder of Shirin Osi in particular, explaining that the incident reflects a painful reality that is represented in the continued phenomenon of minors' marriage and widespread violence against women. It emphasized that minors' marriage is a blatant violation of human rights and a crime against childhood and human dignity.

The statement called on relevant authorities, human rights organizations, and the international community to take immediate action to protect women and children. It affirmed the Kongra Star's commitment to combating violence in all its forms and to raising awareness to prevent the spread of these phenomena, under the slogan, "Together for a society of peace, justice, and equality. Unite to end violence against women."

Ed-Dirbasiyah city

In the city of ed-Dirbasiyah, a statement was issued with the participation of women from civil society organizations and councils. The statement condemned the murder, describing it as a stark example of the humanitarian tragedy endured by the people of occupied Afrin for years, under systematic violence, the silence of the international community, and complicity imposed by force of arms.

The statement emphasized that the killing of women must be a matter of public concern, demanding a serious investigation and accountability for the crime.

The statement concluded by stressing that Shirin was not the first victim, calling for a broad campaign to expose the perpetrators, bring them to justice, and protect women from the recurrence of such crimes.
