Person killed, 5 injured in armed attack in Salamiyah countryside

One person was killed and five others were seriously injured on Saturday in an armed attack targeting a family in the village of al-Saboura, in the Salamiyah countryside, east of Hama.

Local sources reported ANHA correspondent that gunmen opened fire indiscriminately on civilians in the village, which resulted in leaving casualties. The wounded, most of whom suffered critical injuries to the chest and other parts of the body, were transferred to Salamiyah Hospital for treatment.

This incident comes amid a worrying escalation of violence and lawlessness in several areas of the Hama countryside, where residents complain of the widespread availability of weapons and the lack of control and accountability.

In recent days, the village of al-Saboura witnessed the kidnapping of a man and his son in broad daylight, reinforcing residents' fears of a recurrence of such attacks, and increasing the state of anxiety and tension in the region.
