Kongra Star calls for strengthening self-defense against annihilation, occupation

The council issued a written statement today regarding the recent attacks by mercenaries of the Turkish occupying state on the Afrin–Shahba Canton in NE Syria region.

The statement pointed to the ongoing conflicts and heated wars in the Middle East, accompanied by crises and chaos that negatively affect the reality of societies and peoples, especially women and children.

It noted that recent events and developments in Aleppo, including the collapse of the Damascus government's forces, are evidence of this, in addition to the arbitrary attacks by mercenaries of the Turkish occupying state on Afrin and Shahba Canton.

The Kongra Star Council considered that what has happened occurred "with implicit approval" from the parties involved in the Syrian issue. It attributed this to the absence of consensual Syrian solutions, the lack of implementation of Resolution 2254, and the failure of the Damascus government to open the door to dialogue and negotiation regarding the initiative launched by the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the North and East Syria region. This has led to facing acts of genocide.

The council clarified that the primary beneficiary of the ongoing events in Syria is the Turkish occupying state, which seeks to hold the reins of the existing balances in the region by exploiting the new scenario in the Middle East, planned by central hegemonic powers.

It continued: "The Turkish occupying state seeks to take advantage of the current situation to achieve its expansionist, demographic, and colonial goals and extend its influence to fulfill its 'National Pact,' which it wants to establish starting from Syria. This disregards targeting a single ethnicity, instead impacting the mosaic of all regions in Syria and Syrian society."

The statement added: "Thus, it has sought to undermine democratic solutions and the achievements of our people and the women's revolution, which are the result of the struggle and resistance of the region's components, including Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, Assyrians, Armenians, Circassians, and Turkmen."

The statement emphasized: "Amidst the chaos and war we are witnessing as the region's peoples, and especially as women, we must organize and protect ourselves as a fundamental principle."

The Kongra Star Council urged all people and women, on all levels, to recognize that the issue is not limited to one ethnicity. It called for unity and action according to the strategy of revolutionary people's war, the strengthening of self-defense, the protection of homeland and societal values, and the escalation of struggle and resistance at all levels, believing in the right to live a free and dignified life.
