The Internal Security Forces have arrested a prominent leader of ISIS mercenaries who carried out a series of bombings and assassinations in the town of Al-Izba, located north of Deir ez-Zor.

In a statement released today, the Internal Security Forces announced:

"In a special operation on the morning of Saturday, November 30, our forces successfully apprehended an ISIS emir in the town of Al-Izba, north of Deir ez-Zor, following a series of precise security operations aimed at enhancing security and stability in the region."

The statement added:"The General Security Directorate managed to execute a well-coordinated ambush after careful monitoring and surveillance of the movements of an ISIS leader responsible for carrying out a series of recent bombings and assassinations targeting civilians in Al-Izba."

According to security sources, the suspect was arrested after a brief clash without any casualties. Investigations are currently underway to complete legal procedures and refer the individual to the judiciary.

This operation is part of ongoing efforts to thwart the plans of ISIS sleeper cells, which have recently sought to destabilize safe areas by planting landmines and carrying out bombings that resulted in civilian casualties.

The forces reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing ISIS cells and continuing their operations to protect the local population and enhance security and stability in the region. They also called on citizens to cooperate and report any suspicious activities to ensure everyone’s safety.
