KNK: We hope the agreement will be a means for peace, stability

"On March 10, 2025, an agreement was signed between the Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mr. Mazloum Abdi, and the Interim President of Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa. The agreement consists of 8 main points, and countries such as the United States, Britain, France, and Germany played a role and supported the negotiation process to reach this agreement.

According to the agreement, the Kurds will participate in the interim process of rebuilding Syria and drafting a new constitution for Syria. Political and national rights will be recognized in the constitution. Civil and military institutions will also be guaranteed and supported. The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) will be part of the formation of the future Syrian army. The agreement also stipulates the sharing of oil and gas revenues in the area under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces with the general administration. Of course, the agreement is not limited to these points only. The agreement provides a framework for negotiation and clarifies the demands of the parties, and committees of experts will be formed to implement the agreement and discuss all relevant points.

No Undoubtedly, the most important thing in this agreement is the recognition and acceptance of the Kurdish people in the constitution, and we hope that it will pave the way for a political solution and the official status of Rojava. This is a historic achievement and serves the interests of all parties. This first step is not only to resolve the remaining issues, but it is also very important for respecting different religions and ethnicities, whether in the area under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces or throughout Syria.

We in the Kurdistan National Council (KNK) consider this agreement very important and see it as a major step towards finding a solution to the political and national issues throughout the region and achieving stability. We are well aware that at the time of signing this agreement, there were attempts to launch brutal attacks against civilians from the Alawites and Christians. We hope that this agreement, with the efforts of the Syrian Democratic Forces, will be the basis and means for all the peoples of western Syria and all the Syrian people to live in peace and stability, and achieve political and social stability.

The Kurdistan National Council (KNK) supports this process and calls on all democratic and peaceful forces to support it with the aim of achieving success and finding a political solution to all existing issues.
