KCK: Era of democratic society is era of women

The Co-Chairs of the KCK Executive Council extended their congratulations on International Women’s Day through a written statement, which reads as follows:

"We extend our congratulations to all women and peoples on March 8, a day of women’s struggle, solidarity, and unity. We respectfully and gratefully remember all the women who resisted for freedom, the pioneers of democratic and socialist values, from Rosa to Clara, from Sara to Asia, Sevîn Bîlî, and all revolutionary women.

Today, women are not only rising for their rights but are also leading the broader social struggle for democracy and freedom. This is evident in Kurdistan and around the world. We must recognize that the women's struggle has become a global struggle. Just as the system's crisis has become global, so too has the resistance against it, expanding worldwide as women lead movements for freedom and democracy through social campaigns.

In our time, the issue of women’s liberation has increasingly become central to social struggles due to its symbolic and comprehensive nature. The women’s liberation struggle embraces all oppressed groups, forming the most extensive front against the system due to its inclusivity. For this reason, the women's struggle is holistic, it encompasses the fight for environmental protection, democracy, and justice. Neither the bourgeois struggles of the 19th century nor the labor movements of the 20th century were as extensive as the women’s struggle of the 21st century. With this characteristic, the global women's movement has the potential to reach a worldwide level unlike any other struggle in past centuries.

As a movement founded on women's liberation, it has become crucial to strengthen the joint struggle against the system globally, based on the democratic-ecological-women’s liberation model proposed by our leader. This model has proven itself against the monolithic and militarized state system, where male dominance and fascism are deeply intertwined. In the ongoing Third World War, women’s struggles for self-defense, democracy, socialism, and a free life based on women's leadership have expanded more than ever before. Revolutionary women in the 21st century will be at the forefront of this struggle.

The increasing violence against women, the rising cases of femicide, and the attempts to undermine and belittle the women’s freedom movement in recent years indicate that the system perceives women as the primary revolutionary force of the 21st century. It has become evident that the fundamental contradiction of this century is the contradiction of women, and that women themselves are the primary revolutionary force driving the struggle.

The capitalist modernity system, which destroys humanity, nature, and all ethical and political values, seeks to eliminate women's autonomy and all social values. Therefore, attacks on women's freedom struggle, policies that attempt to confine women within reactionary gender roles, and ideologies that try to subjugate women’s will through intensified femicides all aim to suppress women’s leadership in the social struggle of the 21st century.

The greatest achievement of our freedom struggle has been the leadership of women’s liberation and the social consciousness formed around it. With our experiences and social strength, we welcome this March 8 alongside the Manifesto of Peace and Democratic Society presented by Leader Apo to our people and Kurdish women. The Apoist women's liberation movement has played a pioneering role in every stage of the struggle, leading social transformations and safeguarding the path of the leader and the freedom movement. Once again, women's leadership and struggle will be central to the success of this new phase, which is emerging as a model for a free life.

The culture of war and violence has been primarily directed against women, who have been attacked in every sphere. This is why the struggle for peace against war and the fight for women’s liberation will largely be led by women. The male-dominated mindset and system, which have oppressed women for thousands of years, have reached their peak in today’s Third World War and the capitalist modernity system. Therefore, the vision of peace and a democratic society is of utmost importance. Leader Apo’s historical call for peace and a democratic society is particularly significant for women, as it primarily seeks to resolve the issue of women’s freedom. Without women, social peace and democracy cannot be established, women are the guarantee of democracy and freedom. The era of a democratic society is the era of women.

Leader Apo is the most crucial common factor for the struggle of the Kurdish people, all peoples, and most importantly, for the women’s struggle. This is why women have raised their voices in the squares, chanting "Leader Apo’s freedom is our freedom" and strengthening their struggle. Recognizing Leader Apo as a key interlocutor in the new political process is largely a result of this struggle, which has brought his freedom closer through the call for peace and a democratic society.

We are confident that all women and our people, who will take to the streets and squares on March 8, will celebrate this day with great activism and awareness, understanding that the freedom of the leader is their own freedom. They will reach new heights as we approach this year’s Newroz. The success of this new process initiated by our Leader’s call will be possible through the physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the creation of conditions for implementing this process. With our belief in meeting our Leader in freedom, we salute all women and our people, and once again, we congratulate everyone on March 8, the day of unity, solidarity, and struggle."
