KCK congratulates on Eid al-Fitr, calls for peace

Today, the Peoples and Beliefs Committee of the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) issued a statement on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, which stated:

"The Islamic world, after the conclusion of the month of Ramadan in 2025, is preparing to celebrate Eid al-Fitr. As a movement, we first congratulate the Islamic world on this holiday, and we hope that this Eid becomes a means of achieving justice and equality in the Middle East and the Islamic world, and that peace and equality prevail among peoples and beliefs, fostering the development of a democratic life. We hope that it brings peace, freedom, unity, solidarity, equality, fraternity, and blessings to the Islamic peoples who completed their fasting with good intentions, sincere prayers, and charitable acts.

As the peoples of the Middle East, we celebrate this holiday amid violent wars, conflicts, and social struggles. Islamic communities across various regions face economic crises, occupation policies, repression, and political problems in many parts of the Middle East, especially in Gaza, Syria, Rojava, and South Kurdistan, as well as in the Guerrilla areas. Muslim communities spent the month of Ramadan resisting annihilation, repression, violence, hunger, and poverty. Attacks on Gaza continued during Ramadan, massacres were committed against Alawites in Syria during this holy month, and in Rojava, the people observed their fast with honorable resistance against aerial and ground attacks on Tishrin Dam. Despite the announcement of a ceasefire, Guerrilla areas were bombed hundreds of times by drones, warplanes, tanks, and artillery. On this occasion, we wish to emphasize that Muslims' resistance to these attacks, including fasting during the holy month of Ramadan, is as sacred as their worship. We congratulate all Muslims engaged in this struggle everywhere on Eid al-Fitr, and we call on all Muslims, who follow the faith of truth, justice, peace, goodness, and honesty, to contribute to the struggle for democracy led by the Kurdish people in the coming period.

Dear patriotic Kurds:

During this phase, where a new process centered on Kurds and Kurdistan is unfolding in the Middle East, we welcome Eid al-Fitr together. Kurdish Muslims spent most of their fasting days engaging in democratic and resistance activities in the fields. The great struggle of the Kurdish people, which began on March 8 and peaked with the Newroz festival, delivered historic messages. This process, which resonates with historical meanings, is strengthening and evolving more than ever toward achieving a revolution of freedom, the vision of a democratic nation, and building a moral and political society along the lines of democratic civilization. Just as this process imposes duties and responsibilities on everyone, it also places obligations on you — respected gentlemen, religious scholars, and spiritual leaders. This requires engaging in the struggle of the era by embracing the supreme and sacred goal of establishing a model of free democratic life for peoples, based on building a free, equal, and shared life and achieving revival, which also means the rebirth of the Middle East. We hope that Kurdish denial will end, the brotherhood of peoples will grow stronger, and the Middle East will emerge from the ground of wars and conflicts, with democracy, justice, and freedom prevailing. We call on everyone to take a stance in line with the struggle of this phase.

On this occasion, as a movement, we once again congratulate all our national people and their friends on Eid al-Fitr and wish that their intentions will be accepted. We must honor our martyrs and commemorate them even more strongly during Eid al-Fitr. We should collectively visit the graves of martyrs and show solidarity with the families of detainees, as well as the families of martyrs, at the highest level. As a movement, we bow with respect and reverence before the memory of our martyrs on this blessed occasion and renew our pledge to continue the Kurdish people’s struggle until victory in the just cause of building a democratic society is achieved.

We call on all Kurdish people in the four parts of Kurdistan and worldwide to make this blessed Eid al-Fitr an opportunity to strengthen their unity, foster cooperation and solidarity, and we urge the Middle Eastern communities and democratic Islamic circles to organize themselves with the awareness of a democratic nation and strengthen the unity of the democratic peoples of the Middle East. We once again express our hope that this Eid will bring justice, peace, fraternity, and freedom to the peoples, and we congratulate all Muslim peoples, especially the Kurdish people and the peoples of the Middle East, on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.”
