The statement released by KCDK-E on April 4, marking leader Ocalan’s birthday, read: “April 4, 1949, marks a turning point in the history of Kurdistan. On this day, the process of change and transformation based on freedom for the peoples of Kurdistan began.

Despite wars and chaos spreading across the world, the Third Way perspective, based on Leader leader’s Manifesto of Freedom, offers solutions to all social and national issues. Today, capitalist modernity is fueling a third world war and seeking to create massive chaos in the Middle East through sectarian and nationalist conflicts. At this critical point, the path presented by Leader Ocalan shines like the sun.

Leader Ocalan (Apo) call for peace and his vision of a democratic society constitute the only solution to establish peace and democracy among peoples. Based on this truth, concrete steps must be taken to achieve Leader Apo’s physical freedom to realize peace and democracy for the peoples.

Our people demonstrated their clear stance for Leader Apo’s freedom during this year’s Newroz celebrations. Therefore, we can say that Newroz has become a referendum on Leader Apo’s freedom. This demand shown by our people during the celebrations serves as a roadmap for our actions this year.

With this awareness, we declare 2026 as the year of Leader Apo’s freedom. His freedom represents the freedom of our people, the success of the peace process, the democratic society, and the building of brotherhood among peoples.

We must expand and strengthen the organization of millions of Kurds in Europe through the perspective of a democratic society. Like the seeds of spring, we must cultivate and realize this organization.

As the KCDK-E, we congratulate our people on April 4, the birthday of Leader Apo, and call for celebrating this day in the spirit of Newroz, with enthusiasm, and widely among the public.”
