K Star strongly condemns Turkish occupation's massacres against  residents of NE Syria

The Kongra Star Council strongly condemned the Turkish occupation's attacks on the region of NE Syria, and its targeting of a popular market in the town of Sarin, south of Kobani, which resulted in the martyrdom of 12 people and the injury of 13 others, including children, yesterday (Tuesday).

On the same day, the Turkish occupation state launched an attack targeting the village of Al-Jammas in the countryside of Ain Issa, martyring 3 citizens, including two children. It also bombed the village of Um Harmala, affiliated with the town of Zarghan in Al-Jazira Canton, with heavy artillery, resulting in a massacre, in which 3 citizens were martyred and 9 others were injured.

Kongra Star confirmed, through the statement, that these heinous crimes are not individual or random incidents, but rather come within a continuing series of systematic violations practiced by the Turkish state against the Syrian people, in blatant defiance of all international norms and conventions, especially international humanitarian law

The statement indicated that the direct targeting of civilians, vital facilities, and safe homes represents a full-fledged war crime and a public insult to the human conscience, pointing out that these crimes coincide with an unjustified international and regional silence, which reflects a disgusting double standard, and gives the green light for Turkey to continue its aggressive practices are carried out without any deterrence or accountability.

The statement stressed that these attacks are not just an attack on a specific town or region, but rather an attempt to intimidate the population and forcibly displace them, with the aim of changing the demographic composition and imposing expansionist policies that serve Turkey’s colonial agendas.

It explained that this aggressive behavior, which aims to destabilize the entire region, places the international community before a historical responsibility that cannot be postponed.

In a clear criticism of the international silence, Kongra Star said: “In this context, we remind the United Nations, the UN Security Council, and all human rights and humanitarian organizations that their silence regarding these crimes is an implicit participation in deepening the suffering of innocent people, and a morally and legally unacceptable complicity, and demanded the following:

         Urgent international action: The United Nations and the Security Council must take immediate and concrete steps to stop the Turkish aggression and ensure the protection of civilians in accordance with international laws.

          Opening an independent international investigation: We call for the formation of an international committee to investigate the crimes committed against civilians in the town of Sarin and other areas, and to hold those responsible accountable before international justice.

         Imposing international sanctions on Turkey: We call on countries and organizations to take strict punitive measures against the Turkish government, which continues its aggressive policies without respecting international laws.

         Providing protection for civilians: We demand international guarantees to protect the civilian population in NE Syria, and to stop policies aimed at forced displacement and demographic change

Kongra Star, through the statement, issued an urgent appeal to “the free peoples of the world, to human rights organizations, and to living consciences” to take action and stand up to these aggressive practices that represent a disgrace to humanity.

Expressing its stand with the people of the town of Sarin and the victims of the Turkish aggression in NE Syria, it said: “We assure them that we will not remain silent or complacent until justice is achieved and Turkey is held accountable for its crimes. This is our humanitarian duty, and our moral responsibility towards a people bleeding under the weight of occupation and aggression.”
