Jordan meeting explores Syria’s stability through integration, decentralization

A meeting was held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, bringing together a U.S. delegation led by Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Congressman Joe Wilson, with representatives of North and East Syria, including Mazloum Abdi, Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and Ilham Ahmed, Co-Chair of the External Relations Department.

Following the meeting, U.S. officials announced via their online platforms that discussions included the implementation of the March 10 agreement between the SDF leadership and the Syrian government’s Prime Minister, Ahmad al-Shar’a. The U.S. delegation also reaffirmed its support for the Syrian Democratic Forces.

According to information obtained by ANHA Agency from a source within the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, the two sides also discussed ongoing negotiations with Damascus, existing obstacles, and possible ways to overcome them.

The meeting further addressed the issue of democratic integration within a decentralized system for Syria, and how such a framework might be applied.

The source explained that efforts by mediating parties are continuing to arrange further meetings between the two sides, though no date has yet been set.
