Jordan foils smuggling of large quantities of drugs using guided balloons

Jordan has foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs from the countryside of Sweida using guided balloons, seizing 44 kilograms of hashish, 218,000 Captagon pills, and positioning devices.

Jordanian border guard units foiled today an attempt to smuggle large quantities of narcotics using guided balloons in the Eastern Military Zone.

The Jordanian Armed Forces said in a statement published through its official channels that border guard units detected the balloons, intercepted them, and brought them down inside Jordanian territory before seizing their cargo, in coordination with the military security services and the Anti-Narcotics Department.

The Anti-Narcotics Department explained that the operation targeted an attempt to smuggle large quantities of narcotics from the countryside of Sweida Governorate into Jordan using guided balloons.

The operation resulted in the seizure of 44 kilograms of hashish, 218,000 Captagon pills, in addition to Global Positioning System (GPS) devices.
