Italian historian supports Ocalan's call for peace, democratic society

The prominent Italian historian Franco Cardini expressed his support for the leader Abdullah Ocalan's call for peace and a democratic society, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and democratic participation as a path to building a shared future.

In a message of support addressed to the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party, Cardini stated,

"At this critical stage, I express my support for dialogue, democratic participation, and the protection of the fundamental rights of all in the country. I also support the current peace process, which aims to recognize the rights of language, culture, and politics. Only then, trust can be rebuilt, the wounds of the past can be healed, and a shared future can be constructed."

Franco Cardini is a distinguished Italian historian, born in Florence in 1940. He is considered a leading expert on medieval history and Christian-Muslim relations. He served as a professor of history at the University of Florence and has authored numerous works on the Crusades and the cultural interaction between East and West.
