Israeli withdrawal hours after incursion into Quneitra countryside

An Israeli force consisting of three military vehicles withdrew today, Tuesday, after incursions near the entrance to the town of Rafid in the southern Quneitra countryside, where they set up a checkpoint to search passersby.

This coincided with a United Nations (UN) force alert around the town, and an unexplained internet outage. Meanwhile, a convoy of the same forces arrived in the town and requested a closed-door meeting with local dignitaries.

In the past few hours, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored Israeli forces storming the villages of Umm al-Azam, al-Mushayrifa, and al-Samadaniyya al-Sharqiya in the Quneitra countryside after midnight on Monday. This is the latest escalation in the ongoing tensions in the region.

According to the Observatory, two Israeli tanks set off from the Adnaniyah base in the central Quneitra countryside, heading towards the villages of Umm al-Azam and the outskirts of al-Mushayrifa, without any contact with the residents. The operation was accompanied by a state of tension and fear among the residents.
