Israeli forces continued their attacks on Gaza City, north of the Strip, on Sunday, using air and naval bombardment, destroying homes and residential buildings and exacerbating displacement waves.

Al-Aqsa TV reported that Israeli aircraft targeted the vicinity of al-Shafi'i Mosque in the Zeitoun neighborhood, while Israeli forces detonated explosive-laden drones among homes in Jabalia al-Balad, north of the Strip, in addition to bombing buildings in the Zeitoun neighborhood.

Residents said that Israeli aircraft and tanks bombed the eastern and northern outskirts of Gaza City from Saturday evening until Sunday morning, destroying buildings and roads. Explosions continued throughout the night in the neighborhoods of Zeitoun and Shuja'iyya, in addition to artillery shelling of the Sabra neighborhood and the detonation of buildings in Jabalia, according to Reuters.

The Palestinian News Agency, WAFA, reported that shelling targeted a tent for displaced people in the Saraya area of the Rimal neighborhood in western Gaza and the vicinity of the Ghafri intersection on al-Jalaa Street, resulting in civilian casualties.

Israeli aircraft also launched airstrikes south of the Maghazi refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, in addition to targets in Khan Yunis in southern Gaza.

The escalation comes as Israeli leaders confirm their intention to pursue a large-scale attack on the city, amid a worsening humanitarian crisis and the displacement of thousands of families in search of safe shelter.
