Israel pushes into Quneitra again, establishes permanent checkpoint

Israeli forces pushed two tanks and seven military vehicles into the village of Eastern Samdaniyah in rural Quneitra, one day after Israeli troops installed an iron gate inside the village as a permanent barrier, amid ongoing violations along the southern border strip and following the arrest of a group of Syrians, including members of the transitional government forces.

An Israeli military force advanced into the village of Eastern Samdaniyah in rural Quneitra, one day after Israeli troops installed an iron gate inside the village, which residents considered a permanent checkpoint entrenching the military presence in the area.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the Israeli force consisted of two tanks, seven military vehicles, and a bulldozer. The force advanced toward the road connecting Jaba and Khan Arnabah, leading to al-Salam Highway.

This incursion comes amid increasing Israeli violations along the border strip in southern Syria and rising tensions on the ground in the region.

Israeli forces also arrested a group of individuals in rural Quneitra, as shown in footage circulated today by activists, who claimed the detainees were “members of the transitional government forces.”

It is worth noting that earlier, Israeli forces fired several artillery shells from the western Tal al-Ahmar base near the town of Kodna toward the wooded area in eastern Tal al-Ahmar in central rural Quneitra, with no reported human or material losses.
