ISIS reported that it executed two Christians after kidnapping them between the towns of Palma and Mocímboa da Praia in Cabo Delgado province in northeastern Mozambique, where ISIS carries out frequent attacks.

The incident is part of ISIS’s campaign against Christians in the region, which has been plagued by violence since 2017, when a local group pledged allegiance to ISIS, which later declared a "Mozambique Province."

The attacks have caused widespread displacement, estimated at over 100,000 people this year alone, bringing the total number of displaced persons to more than 1.3 million, according to the United Nations.

Meanwhile, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees has warned that escalating violence has reached a critical new level, amid reports of child recruitment and increased attacks on civilians.

It is worth noting that Cabo Delgado province, rich in natural gas, has previously witnessed major attacks that forced global companies like TotalEnergies to suspend their projects, valued at $20 billion.
