Iranian authorities arrest Kurdish woman from Mahabad

The Hana Human Rights Organization reported that Iranian regime forces arrested Sirwan Shawleh, a resident of Mahabad in East Kurdistan, as agents from the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence raided her home and forcibly took her to an unknown location according to Roj News Agency.

The organization stated that Shawleh had been summoned to the intelligence office in her city last February, where she was interrogated for several hours and threatened with arrest.

Her current arrest comes while her husband, Jalal Sadavi, has been detained by the Ministry of Intelligence since January 16, 2024. He is currently being held in Mahabad Prison, and no information is available regarding his condition.

In a related context, Iranian authorities arrested Kurdish activist Zilan Kamangar in Kamyaran, East Kurdistan, on Wednesday. However, Iranian human rights organizations have expressed concern over the escalating campaigns of arrests and raids targeting Kurdish activists across the country.

According to the Kurdistan Human Rights Organization, Iranian intelligence forces raided the home of Zilan Kamangar's family and arrested her without a court filing. They also searched the house and confiscated the mobile phones of family members, including her husband's mobile phone.

According to information, Zilan Kamangar was transferred to the intelligence center in Sanandaj, and no further details are available regarding her whereabouts or fate.
