Israeli forces arrest 2 young men in Daraa countryside

On Thursday, the Israeli forces arrested two young men; Mazen al-Aqlah and Mohamed Tawfiq Rabia, from the village of Ma'ariya in the Yarmouk Basin area of  Daraa western countryside. The arrests followed a raid carried out on the village, and the two men were taken to an anonymous destination, where their fate remains unknown, according to local sources.

The arrests come amid a series of repeated Israeli incursions into southern Syria, which have expanded in recent months without any effective deterrent from government forces.

In a related development, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented the continued bulldozing and excavation work by Israeli forces around the village of Bir Ajam in western Quneitra countryside. This work is part of the so-called "Sufa 53" project, which extends from Om al-Adham and al-Qahtaniyah, through al-Hamidiyah and Jabata al-Khashab, reaching the town of Hadar and the slopes of Jabal al-Sheikh (Al-Sheikh Mount).

According to the sources, the project aims to create a fortified military corridor linking Israeli bases and points along the border strip, to facilitate the movement of armored vehicles and military units, as part of an Israeli strategy to impose a new security reality inside Syrian territory since work on the project began in 2022.
