Iran: No negotiations with the U.S. at present

The spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baqaei, stated in a press conference held today that his country has no current plan for dialogue with the U.S., adding:

 "Whenever we are convinced that negotiations will safeguard our national interests and guarantee the rights of the Iranian people, we will not hesitate."

Baqaei also announced that Tehran will host a trilateral meeting tomorrow concerning the nuclear agreement, bringing together representatives from Iran, Russia, and China at the level of directors-general of foreign ministries. He noted that “both countries are partners in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), permanent members of the Security Council, and can play a significant role in any upcoming diplomatic initiative.”

Regarding the visit of the Supreme Leader’s advisor, Ali Larijani, to Moscow, Baqaei explained that Larijani “delivered a message from the Iranian president to his Russian counterpart,” indicating that the Foreign Ministry was informed in advance of the visit, describing it as “routine” within the framework of bilateral relations.

The spokesperson further revealed that new talks will be held in Istanbul with representatives from France, the United Kingdom, and Germany to discuss issues related to the nuclear file and sanctions relief, confirming that consultations with these countries have been ongoing since last year.

Concerning the “snapback mechanism,” which allows the automatic re-imposition of sanctions on Iran in case of a nuclear deal breach, Baqaei deemed it “unjustified, illegal, and unethical.
