Iran executes 44 women since beginning of 2025

According to the Iran Human Rights Center, Iranian authorities have executed 44 women since the start of the year in Eastern Kurdistan and Iran, warning that the death penalty is increasingly being used as a tool of political, social, and economic pressure, according to Roj News Agency.

The center noted in its report that political female detainees are held in conditions far from humanitarian and legal standards, where they face threats and psychological pressure and live in overcrowded spaces lacking basic services, leading to a deterioration in their health.

The report revealed that women in Eastern Kurdistan and Iran have faced systematic policies of discrimination and restriction for more than four decades, yet they continue their struggle for freedom and equality, playing a central role in resisting repression and building a more just society.

In conclusion, the center called on the international community and human rights organizations to condemn the violations and support women’s rights, stressing that the long history of women’s struggle in Eastern Kurdistan and Iran demonstrates their determination to defend their rights, especially amid the tense political and social conditions the country is witnessing today.
