Residents of Hasakah, IDPs call for physical freedom of Leader Ocalan 

Today, residents of the city and those displaced from Afrin and Sere Kaniye held a demonstration condemning the isolation imposed on Leader Ocalan and calling for granting him the right to hope and lifting the isolation.

The march was held under the slogan “Physical Freedom for Leader Abdullah Ocalan,” with thousands of participants from Hasakah, members of institutions, war-wounded individuals, families of martyrs, and displaced people from Afrin and Sere Kaniye, all demanding his physical freedom.

The march began at the Sinalko Roundabout and continued to Leader Abdullah Ocalan Park in the Al-Nasira neighborhood. Participants carried photos of Leader Ocalan and chanted slogans such as “Long live Leader Abdullah Ocalan,” “No life without the leader,” and “With our soul, with our blood, we are with you, our leader.”

After reaching the park, Biyan Khalil, an administrator in Kongra Star in Hasakah, delivered a speech, stating that the physical freedom of the leader is a demand shared by all components of society. She said, “It is the leader’s right to obtain his physical freedom; therefore, he must be given the right to hope and the isolation must end.”

Biyan Khalil stressed the need for his release in order to implement the call for peace and make the dialogue process successful.

Farouk Tozo, the co-chair of Hasakah’s City Council, also delivered a speech, saying, “The Turkish occupying state does not want the dialogue process and the call for peace to succeed, which is why it creates obstacles. Yet we are confident that Leader Abdullah Ocalan will succeed in this process, and we will continue to struggle in the streets to achieve his physical freedom.”
