Major French Trade Unions (CFDT, CGT, UNSA, Solidaires, and FSU), along with the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), issued a joint statement calling for the cancellation of death sentence against women's rights activist Sharifeh Mohammadi.

The statement emphasized that Sharifeh Mohammadiwas sentenced for her peaceful activism in defense of workers' and women's rights. It noted that SharifehMohammadi was reportedly deprived of her basic rights, such as visits, telephone calls, and the opportunity to defend herself while in detention. The judiciary convicted her for her membership in the Coordination Committee for Supporting the Workers' OrganizationsEstablishment.

The statement drew attention to the escalation of executions committed in Iran, noting that more than 863 people have been executed since the beginning of the year, including at least 50 political prisoners. It warned that the number of executions has increased significantly during the 12-day war, with more than 250 death sentences carried out during this period. According to the unions, the Iranian authorities are exploiting the war to intensify repression and silence dissenting voices.

The statement by the French unions and the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) received support and solidarity from a number of other trade unions in Europe and Latin America. The organizations emphasized that defending the rights of workers and women is not a crime, calling on the international community to take immediate action to prevent the execution of SharifehMohammadi.

In conclusion, the unions called for the death sentence against Sharifeh Mohammadi to be quashed, for her andthe other human rights defenders' release, and for the complete abolition of the death penalty in Iran.

Earlier, a wide range of international and local organizations issued statements, in which they declaredtheir support for the activist Sharifeh Mohammadi and called for her release, along with all political prisoners in Iran. These organizations included international organizations and labor unions such as the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), the Swedish Confederation of Trade Unions (LO), the International Association for the Protection of Workers in Iran (IASWI), the British Network of Trade Union Representatives (NSSN), and the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF).

In addition, Human rights organizations and UN bodiessupported Sharifeh Mohammadi, including Amnesty International, UN Special Rapporteurs on human right defenders' situation, Mary Lawlor, and the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, Mai Sato, the UN Fact-Finding Mission on Iran (FFMI), and the Council of Florence, Italy.

Organizations and unions within Iran, such as the Free Union of Iranian Workers, the Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company Union, the Coordination Committee for Assistance in the Workers' Organizations Establishment, the Tehran Teachers' Union, in addition to retiree organizations such as the Retirees' Union, the Retirees of Khuzestan, Rasht, and Kermanshah, as well as student and university organizations also participated in the common statement.

Moreover, civil and cultural organizations, such as the Arab Progressive Activists of Ahvaz (Atiq), the Civil Campaigns of the "Stop Honor Killings" Campaign, the Organization of Women for Equal and Sustainable Freedom, the Iranian Writers' Association (in exile), and the Iranian Pen Association (in exile) participated. All of these organizations expressed their solidarity with Sharifeh Mohammadi and emphasized the need for her immediate release, along with all political prisoners, as part of the defense of human rights and social justice in Iran.

In August, Iran's Supreme Court upheld the death sentence against the activist Sharifeh Mohammadi, making it non-appealable. This sparked a wave of international demands to halt executions of political activists and called for legal reforms that ensure justice and respect human rights.
