Internal Forces in Hasakah reveal causes behind recent incidents in region

In recent weeks, Hasakah has witnessed several security-related incidents, including murders, thefts, and armed robberies. Among them was the discovery on June 1 of the body of citizen Mahmoud Mohammad Younes near the junction of al-Dhiba village, close to Safiya town in Hasakah, days after he had disappeared under mysterious circumstances.

To clarify the reasons behind these incidents and the measures that will be taken, Major Hussein Ahmed Dahdi, Director of the Hasakah Region Administration Office, told ANHA agency today that, following an analysis of the security situation and the receipt of numerous reports, complaints, and notifications concerning such crimes, the widespread use of motorcycles has been identified as one of the primary factors contributing to thefts, armed robberies, and other criminal activities in Hasakah.

Accordingly, the Internal Security Forces have implemented all necessary measures and procedures to curb this phenomenon, enforce the law, address violations, and reduce crimes that have recently increased, particularly theft and violent robbery.

Major Dahdi also stated that the Internal Security Forces have completed investigations and achieved significant progress in a number of important cases related to theft and violent robbery networks.

Regarding the measures that will be taken to reduce the spread of such crimes both inside the city and on public roads outside it, Major Dahdi emphasized that the Internal Security Forces carry out essential humanitarian and ethical duties, including protecting community members, enhancing security and stability, and safeguarding public and private property.

Concerning roads outside the city, Dahdi noted that a number of security measures have been introduced, including the establishment of permanent checkpoints and the deployment of mobile patrols to strengthen security and stability. Special units dedicated to road protection have also been assigned, while additional security departments and police stations have been established to monitor security procedures and curb the crimes recently witnessed in the region.

Within the city, he explained that the measures include strengthening the security presence through fixed checkpoints and round-the-clock patrols operating 24 hours a day to prevent and combat crime.

In a related development, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in Hasakah announced on Wednesday the launch of a wide-ranging security operation across the region. The operation includes pursuing wanted individuals, addressing violations, regulating traffic movement, and taking action against non-compliant motorcycles, with the aim of enhancing security and stability. The campaign is being carried out with the participation of traffic police units and the Special Security Forces (HAT).

The Internal Security Forces Command in Hasakah Governorate also issued a directive banning the movement of all types of motorcycles within the governorate’s administrative boundaries, effective immediately and until further notice.
