QAMISHLO

As part of the campaign to promote women's rights in the new Syria and the program commemorating International Women's Day on March 8th, declared on February 18th by the Joint Events Platform of Women's Movements and Organizations in Rojava, a march was organized in Qamishlo by the Kongra Star to support the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) and safeguard the gains of the women's revolution in Rojava.

The march was held under the slogan "Women protect the Rojava Revolution," and included women from the cities of Qamishlo, Amuda, Tirbê Spiyê, Girkê Legê, and Derik.

The march began at Osman Sabri Square in Qamishlo, with the participation of YPJ fighters and members of women's organizations and civil society, and concluded at Martyr Rubar Square.

During the march, participants raised the flags of the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) and banners with slogans such as "Women, life, freedom," "Women are the heart and soul of the revolution," "Women are the foundation of the Rojava Revolution," "Women are the spirit of Rojava," and "The Rojava Revolution is the power of women" written on.

They also chanted slogans like "Long live the Rojava resistance" and "Long live the resistance of the Women's Protection Units."

After the march concluded and transformed into a rally, Amina Omer spoke on behalf of the Kongra Star, emphasizing that the participants had come to support the YPJ. She stressed that the YPJ is not merely a military force, but represents a revolution of thought, conscience, and freedom. She added, "The Women's Protection Units represent all women and the unbreakable will of Kurdish women."

Amina Omer explained that the YPJ not only protects society and cities from the forces of darkness, but also strives to ensure women's participation in all spheres. She stated, "True safety is achieved through women's participation in all domains."

She affirmed that the goal of their enemies was to eliminate the Kurdish people, target the Kurdish women in particular. She concluded, "There are still dangers, and now we women are called upon to strengthen our unity and the protection of our gains."
