Ilham Ahmed: We engage in dialogue for the sake of a solution

The co-chair of the Foreign Relations Department in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Ilham Ahmed, spoke to ANHA's agency about the war between Israel, Hamas, and Hezbollah, and its repercussions on Syria and North and East Syria.

 Ilham Ahmed pointed out that the war in the region will widen and will not remain confined to Israel, Hamas, and Hezbollah. She explained that it will create significant changes, saying: "The result of the war between Israel, Hamas, and Hezbollah so far is that the anti-Israel front is gradually losing. This war will not be limited to southern Lebanon or Gaza; it has already expanded. Yemen is also part of the attacking front, and Israel and its allies continue to respond. The war has reached Yemen as well, with strikes against Iran and attacks within Iraq and Syria. The war will reach all the geography where these forces are present. Israel has explicitly stated in its statements, 'What comes after October 7 will not be like what came before it.' The region will witness significant changes, indicating a series of changes among the dominant powers since World War II."

"This is still just the beginning."

 Ilham Ahmed answered the question, "How will these changes happen?" Saying: "Some will happen through elections and others through wars, and as a result, the entire region will witness several changes. Therefore, the current events and tensions are just the beginning."

"Stubbornness will drag Syria towards the abyss."

Regarding the repercussions and risks of this war on Syria, Ilham Ahmed said: "This war affects Syria 100%. For example, when the war broke out in Lebanon, all these people were displaced to Syria. The economic situation in Syria is weak and cannot recover on its own. The presence of all these displaced people is a burden, and the current and potential strikes and the expansion of the frontlines all affect Syria and the region of North and East Syria as well. The region of North and East Syria is located on the border, so there is a possibility of these frontlines intensifying. What are the necessary steps that should be taken?" "It is wise for Syria to see itself in a new phase and strive for change, and to reach reconciliation or a comprehensive agreement among the Syrian people." Stubbornness and insistence on remaining in the current situation will not yield any results; rather, it will drag Syria towards the abyss.

"The current situation is taking Syria into a new phase."

"The geography of Syria will also be targeted." With these words, Ilham Ahmed highlighted the imminent danger facing Syria, and mentioned that it is essential at this stage to move towards a solution, as there must be efforts and negotiations for a solution at least. She continued her speech, saying: "Syria is divided into four sections, and the Damascus government has been ignoring the changes amidst these developments until now and remains silent. This is its stance. However, listening to the different voices of the Syrian people inside, what their demands are, how change is necessary, and how a solution can be reached, all these efforts are unclear. This approach places Syria in a completely new phase. What is it?" Israel targets all sites where Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran are present, and it will also be targeted in Syrian geography. In such a situation, it is essential to move towards a solution; at the very least, there should be efforts and negotiations for a solution.

"The world order is in competition"

Regarding the world order and the current crisis, Ilham Ahmed explained that there is great competition, and she continued her talk about the plans of the dominant powers, saying: "China seeks to control the entire world economically, and Russia wants to have a role in the new steps, in return there are attempts to impose control and domination by America, and all parties are waiting for the American elections, and after the elections all parties will continue to implement their plans, and therefore it is very clear that America stands with Israel publicly and is doing its utmost to protect it, there is a comprehensive plan against these targeted parties such as Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and the rest of the parties loyal to Iran, and within the framework of this new plan or redesign of the Middle East, these parties that are unable to keep up with this stage and make changes and read this situation correctly, fall into the target range one after the other."

"Protecting autonomous administration guarantees a new Syria"

Ilham Ahmed pointed to the importance of protecting the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and ensuring its future amid the current crisis. She said, "The Autonomous Administration region is part of Syria, within the framework of a democratic Syria, where all peoples and components in Syria have their rights. This is of utmost importance. Therefore, protecting the Autonomous Administration and ensuring its future are guarantees for building the new Syria. For this reason, there will always be negotiations and efforts to reach an agreement with all parties, as they have always existed in the past, now, and will continue to exist in the future."

"We are holding discussions to maintain stability in North and East Syria."

Ilham Ahmed pointed out that they are conducting discussions to maintain the stability of North and East Syria and to make the model of autonomous administration a key to the solution in such a complex situation. She concluded her speech by saying, "We are discussing how to make autonomous administration a model that can be applied to the entire geography of Syria at this time, and what changes are necessary to achieve that." This is an urgent necessity, and this topic has been included on the agenda several times, with its points being discussed one by one. We are having discussions with the parties with whom we share alliances and communicate.
