IDPs in Serê Kaniyê Camp protest Turkish attacks and Syrian displacement

The demonstration denounced the ongoing Turkish attacks on the region, including the current assaults on Manbij, as well as the forced displacement of residents from Afrin and Shahba following previous Turkish offensives. The protesters gathered in front of the camp council.

The demonstrators carried banners reading: "Displaced Residents of Serê Kaniyê Camp Condemn the Turkish Occupation and Call for Aid for Afrin's Displaced," "We Condemn the Turkish Attacks on Our People in Shahba and Tal Rifaat," and "We Demand the World Hold Turkey Accountable for Killing Us."

They chanted slogans condemning the Turkish occupation, honoring martyrs, and rejecting Turkey's crimes against the people of NE Syria.

Upon reaching the camp’s main entrance, the protesters observed a minute of silence. Abdul Razzaq Ahmad, a member of the Council of Martyrs' Families in occupied Serê Kaniyê, gave a speech in which he said: "Today, we celebrate the fall of Bashar al-Assad's government for all Syrians, and we hope all the displaced will return to their lands and cities."

Ahmad strongly condemned the Turkish occupation's attacks on NE Syria, noting that Turkey and its mercenaries forcibly displaced the original residents of Afrin and Shahba as part of ongoing efforts to alter the region's demographics to align with their plans.

In his speech, Ahmad emphasized that Syria should be a homeland for all Syrians, regardless of their components, ethnicities, and sects. He called for unity and solidarity among Syrians to confront the aggression and ongoing violations.

The protest concluded with chants honoring the sacrifices of martyrs and calling for national unity to confront the occupation and the divisions aiming to destabilize the region.
