IDPs from Aleppo and Shahba arrive at shelters in Raqqa

This morning, hundreds of displaced families from Aleppo city and forcibly displaced from Afrin and Shahba Canton arrived at the temporary shelters prepared by the crisis cell in Raqqa Canton in the NE Syria region.

The crisis cell of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of Raqqa Canton announced on Monday (December 2) the preparation of an integrated temporary shelter to receive the forcibly displaced from Aleppo and its countryside and the displaced from Afrin and Shahba Canton.

The Al-Baladi stadium in the city center was initially prepared to accommodate the displaced, and was provided with tents equipped with mattresses, heating means, in addition to drinking water and food necessary to ensure their comfort.

The cell also equipped 10 schools inside the city to provide additional shelter to accommodate the largest possible number of families, in a move that reflects the council's commitment to providing urgent humanitarian support to families from Shahba and Aleppo.

In this context, the deputy co-chair of the Social Affairs Authority and the toilers in Raqqa Canton, Munawar al-Abdullah, confirmed that the crisis cell has begun to secure everything necessary for the people coming from the cities of Aleppo and Shahba, and that all institutions are on alert to secure the needs of the people.

"10 tents have been built and a hall has been equipped, in addition to 10 schools in Raqqa in order to accommodate the arriving residents, as well as to provide food and clothing," al-Majid told ANHA agency.

Raqqa residents also launched several initiatives to provide assistance to residents from Shahba and Aleppo.

These initiatives "are not new to the people of Raqqa, as they were the first to provide assistance and a helping hand to secure all those coming to Raqqa", al-Majid said.

The People's Democratic Council of the Democratic AANES  region has urgently instructed the preparation of infrastructure to receive the displaced.
