The campaign “I Want to Meet Abdullah Ocalan” concluded today in Syria, with participation from figures across various Syrian cities. The results of the campaign will be announced on September 21.

The European Forum for Freedom and Peace launched the campaign on June 5, while the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the Syrian Lawyers’ Initiative to Defend Leader Abdullah Ocalan launched it in Syria on August 20, and it ended today.

According to the statement announcing the campaign, it was initially scheduled to continue until August 30, but due to the overwhelming response, the organizers extended it until September 10, which is today.

According to information obtained from Farzendeh Mundher, an administrator of the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, more than 2,000 lawyers, academics, politicians, intellectuals, tribal leaders, religious figures, doctors, and engineers from various communities and sects in Syria, including Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, Assyrians, Yazidis, Turkmens, Circassians, Sunnis, Alawites, Ismailis, Druze, and Christians, have called for a meeting with Leader Abdullah Ocalan. However, they are unable to announce the official number yet.

Mundher confirmed to ANHA agency that the final number of participants will be announced on September 21.

He also explained that the campaign covered all cantons of North and East Syria as well as all major Syrian cities, with participation from Damascus, Aleppo, Homs, Latakia, Tartus, Daraa, Quneitra, Idlib, and Sweida.

The petition with the signatures will be sent to the United Nations Secretary-General, the European Union, the UN Human Rights Council, the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture, and the Turkish Ministry of Justice.
