Hundreds in Jazira demand “right to hope” for Leader Ocalan

The demonstration, organized today by Kongra Star, included residents from the cities of Hasakah, al-Hol, Tal Tamr, and Tal Brak, alongside members of civil institutions, political parties, and women’s movements.

The protest began at the Sinalko Roundabout and proceeded toward the Leader’s Park in the al-Nasra neighborhood. Participants carried images of Leader Abdullah Ocalan and flags of women’s organizations, primarily Kongra Star, along with banners featuring slogans expressing the will of resistance, such as “Woman, Life, Freedom, the Right to Hope Will Be Achieved,” among other calls for ending his isolation.

During the march, participants chanted slogans honoring Leader Ocalan’s resistance and denouncing the policies of the Turkish occupation, emphasizing their determination to continue the struggle until freedom and justice are achieved.

Upon reaching the Leader’s Park, the demonstration turned into a large public gathering. Participants observed a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs, followed by a speech from Jian Hussein, a member of the Kongra Star Coordination. She stated: “Struggling people, our leader Abdullah Ocalan has been imprisoned for twenty-seven years. Despite the harshness of isolation, he transformed his prison into a center for free thought and a comprehensive solution to the region’s crises. The leader has called for peace, and everyone responded to his call, yet the Turkish state has taken no practical steps toward a solution, made no real changes to its constitution, and has not granted the leader the right to hope for freedom.”

Jian Hussein concluded: “We, the women of North and East Syria, pledge to our leader, who granted us freedom and opened the path to struggle and equality, that we will continue our fight until his liberation. We will make his philosophy of freedom and democratic society a guiding principle in our daily lives, applying it in reality and passing it on to future generations.”

Badria Hussein, the spokesperson for Kongra Star in al-Hol, noted that Leader Ocalan has always responded to every stage of challenges. After the global capitalist system entered a structural crisis and failed to resolve outstanding issues, Leader Ocalan issued a call for peace and a democratic society, particularly after the Turkish state approached Imrali in an attempt to rescue itself from the deadlock it had created.

Badria Hussein emphasized that Turkey’s attempts to isolate Leader Ocalan from the people and core issues have failed, despite applying unjust laws lacking ethical and humanitarian standards.

The demonstration concluded with slogans demanding Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s physical freedom and chants of “No life without the leader.”
