On the occasion of the New Year, women in Raqqa Canton expressed their hopes that 2026 will mark a genuine beginning for peace and stability in Syria, and that it will witness tangible progress toward peaceful solutions and the enhancement of women’s role in society and decision-making.

In this context, Shireen Qawas said:

“We congratulate and extend our greetings to Syrians on the New Year 2026. We are all hopeful that Syria will live in security and peace, and that there will be a complete agreement between the transitional government and the Syrian Democratic Forces. We hope that we, as Syrians, will live under a single will, without discrimination between Arab, Kurdish, Syriac, or Assyrian, and that we will stand together as one hand, enjoying security, stability, and peace.”

She added:

“We hope to live in safety, and that women will have a leading role and an influential voice in the new Syria, just as they have an essential role today in the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian Democratic Forces.”

For her part, Nour Khalil expressed her wish for an end to years of war and suffering, emphasizing that the new year must be a real opportunity for positive change, not merely a change of dates. She said:

“I hope that peace and stability will prevail in all regions. Despite the pain we carry from previous years, we look to the new year as a new opportunity and a true beginning for change. We hope that Syrian women will receive the status they deserve, and that their role and sacrifices during the years of war will be recognized through laws that protect them and by granting them broad space for political and social participation.”

Nour Khalil also underscored the importance of peaceful solutions in the process of building a new Syria, adding:

“Our message to all political parties is to assume their responsibilities toward the Syrian people. We want genuine peaceful solutions, because the people are tired of waiting and have paid a heavy price. I hope that peace will return, that smiles will return to children’s faces, reassurance to Syrians’ hearts, and that the coming year will be a year of dialogue and understanding, away from weapons.”

Meanwhile, Ghada Jabbara stated that the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026 should be a moment for serious reflection on ending the Syrian crisis. She explained:

“I hope that the cycle of conflict that has exhausted Syrians will come to an end, and that we will reach a stage of calm and stability. I also hope that the new year will mark the beginning of a phase in which Syrian women are given justice, through strengthening their role in society, ensuring legal protection for them, and granting them a real opportunity to work and participate in decision-making.”

Ghada Jabbara concluded with a message to political parties, stressing the need to place the suffering of the people at the top of priorities and to emphasize peaceful dialogue that preserves the unity of the country, expressing her hope that the new year will witness practical steps toward de-escalation and dialogue, and that it will carry peace and security for all Syrians.
