Last week, the Arab press discussed the impact of Trump's election as President of the United States on both Syria and Lebanon.

The Iranian presence in Syria is the top priority in Trump's dealings with al-Assad.

The London-based newspaper Al-Arab expects that the administration of the new U.S. president, Donald Trump, will adopt a new approach in dealing with Bashar al-Assad in light of the current situation, especially the Iranian presence on Syrian territory, which both the United States and Israel are working to curtail.

With the complexity of the Syrian file and the presence of multiple local, regional, and international parties involved, speculations abound behind the scenes regarding Trump's policy towards Syria, especially concerning the Turkish and Iranian presence in the north and northeast of the country, in addition to the Israeli strikes.

Analyses agree that "the American policy of pressure and sanctions will definitely continue" and that it will not change regardless of the president, but the approach towards Assad might see some changes."
