Researcher Farinaz Atiya believes that Turkey’s failure to take steps in response to Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s initiative is causing the peace process to stall, while Ankara exploits regional and international tensions to gain time and strengthen its dominance over the Kurds. She stressed that Turkey must demonstrate goodwill by releasing him, alongside constitutional reforms that guarantee recognition of the Kurds’ cultural and political rights.

The struggle for the Kurdish language in Rojava, ongoing since 1928, became a reality with the launch of the 19 July Revolution. Discussions and negotiations are now underway under the January 29 agreement to ensure the consolidation of the Kurdish language in the constitution and laws.

A legal expert confirmed that practices targeting the Kurdish language constitute a clear violation of Presidential Decree No. 13, which recognized it as an indigenous language in Syrian society. He noted that ignoring the language and removing it from signs and government institutions contradicts Presidential Decree No. 13.

Syria is witnessing escalating tensions that threaten the social fabric and open the door to further divisions and instability, amid repeated incidents of violence in Damascus, Homs, and other areas. A legal expert explained that continued “sectarian incitement and daily practices against minorities” would aggravate tensions and push the country toward further violence and chaos.

At a time when traditional forms of cooperation are declining under the pressure of economic crises, residents of Jaroudiya village in Derik have managed to preserve the spirit of social solidarity by establishing agricultural cooperatives. These initiatives have transformed collective work into a source of economic and social support that strengthens self-sufficiency and maintains ties between families.
