The Autonomous Administration in Kobani reaffirmed its categorical rejection of any attempts to Arabize the city's name and called on the Syrian Interim Government to abandon the Baath regime's approach and recognize Kurdish rights in the new Syrian constitution and official map. Chicken prices in Syrian markets have risen significantly after the price of one ton of live broiler chickens at farm level increased by more than USD 300 within a week. Displaced families have begun returning gradually to their villages in the cities of Zirghan and the Tel Tamr countryside after years of displacement. Residents of Çil Agha expressed their rejection of the continued use of place names imposed by the Baath regime on Kurdish towns and villages. They said retaining these names represents a continuation of Arabization and exclusion policies targeting Kurdish identity, stressing that the original names reflect the historical and cultural memory of the region's inhabitants and should be respected in a new Syria.
