Hasakah governor reviews return plans for Afrin, al-Shahba and Serekaniye IDPs

The Governor of Hasakah held a meeting with the presidential delegation of the Interim Government to discuss arrangements for the return of displaced residents of Afrin, al-Shahba, and Serekaniye.

Hasakah Governor. Nureddin Ahmed received today the presidential delegation of the Interim Government tasked with following up on the implementation of the January 29 agreement, to discuss the necessary steps for completing the safe and dignified return of displaced Afrin residents to their hometowns.

The meeting was attended by Mahmoud Khalil, Deputy Director of Internal Security in the governorate, and Mustafa Abdi, a member of the presidential team. Participants reviewed the current status of displaced families returning home and coordination mechanisms among relevant authorities to overcome obstacles, ensure stability for returnees, and meet their basic needs.

The meeting also addressed preparations for the return of displaced residents from al-Shahba and Serekaniye in the coming period through plans and measures aimed at ensuring a safe and organized return.

Preparations are currently underway for the return of approximately 1,600 displaced Afrin families to their homes during the current week.

Sources told ANHA Agency today that the eighth convoy of displaced Afrin residents is scheduled to depart for the region and its villages on Wednesday, June 10.
