Hasaka Governor: Opening of Nusaybin crossing to take additional time

Hasaka Governor Nour Eddin Ahmed announced the postponement of opening the Nusaybin border crossing, stating that it will not be opened this week as the necessary procedures require additional time.

Hasaka Governor Nour Eddin Ahmed confirmed on Sunday that the Nusaybin border crossing with Turkey will not open within this week, as his remarks came during a speech to media outlets in Damascus, responding to reports circulating about the imminent opening of the crossing.

Ahmed made clear that reopening the border crossing would require additional time, noting that it has been decided to postpone its opening at this stage following meetings held in Damascus to discuss the matter.

During his speech, the governor did not specify any new date for opening the border crossing.

ANHA agency reported last Friday, citing a well-informed source, that preparations for the opening of the Nusybin border crossing have been completed, with its reopening expected this week.

The Nusaybin crossing is one of the key border crossings between Syria and Turkey, as its opening is expected to facilitate cross-border movement and revitalize trade exchanges between the two countries after years of closure.
