Guerrilla Mothers: We trust PKK’s decisions
The mothers of fighters in the ranks of the guerrilla expressed their deep trust in the decisions of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) regarding the shift in the mode of struggle.

On May 12, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party announced the results of its 12th Congress, which was held from May 5 to 7 of the same month, declaring an end to all activities previously carried out in its name and a shift from armed struggle to political struggle.
Guerrilla Resilience
In this context, Siham Rasho, the mother of a People's Defense Forces fighter, praised the PKK’s more than four-decade-long struggle against the nationalist mentality that denied the Kurdish existence. She expressed full support for the party’s recent decisions.
"We are proud of our sons and daughters who committed themselves to defending the homeland and did not surrender despite the brutality of the occupation. The guerrilla has proven its ability to endure, and now the mode of struggle is changing in response to the call of leader Abdullah Ocalan," Rasho said.
Rasho emphasized that the Congress decisions represent an important step toward achieving peace and building a new political phase that serves the aspirations of the Kurdish people.
"They Fulfilled Their Historical Duties"
For her part, Fatima Doyko, the mother of a guerrilla fighter, explained that the violations faced by the Kurdish people in all four parts of Kurdistan were a motivation for the launch of the PKK in the late 1970s.
"The guerrilla has fulfilled its historical duties in the best way, and we are grateful for what they have offered for the sake of our people's freedom and dignity," Doyko said.
Fatima called on the Turkish state to take practical steps toward achieving peace, especially in light of the new phase proposed by leader Abdullah Ocalan.
A True Victory
Hanifa Hassan, the mother of a female People's Defense Forces fighter, stressed that what happened during the 12th Congress is a victory resulting from a long-term resistance, not from pressure or attacks by the Turkish occupation state.
She affirmed: "We are with the guerrilla heart and soul, and their decision does not mean surrender but is the beginning of a new stage of political struggle. What has been achieved today is the fruit of many years of struggle."
