Since the occupation of Girê Spi and large parts of its countryside following the brutal aggression against it by the Turkish occupier and its mercenaries on October 9, 2019, the Turkish occupier has committed various crimes against those remaining steadfast in its land, including murder, kidnapping, and intimidation, in addition to plundering property, with the aim of restricting... on their livelihood and forced them to leave their homes.

A day could hardly pass without the mercenaries of the Turkish occupier committing crimes and attacks against the people in those areas with the aim of forcing them to submit to their will and implementing the policy of the Turkish occupier, not to mention that it continued implementing its settlement project by deporting the Syrian refugees present on its lands to occupied Girê Spi.

ANHA agency documented these violations throughout the year 2023 through its local sources, especially those affecting the remaining people of occupied Girê Spi, including killing, kidnapping, and arrests.

The "residents" are victims of murder at the hands of the occupier and mercenaries

The Turkish occupier and its mercenaries committed several murders against innocent civilians in occupied Girê Spi and its countryside during the year 2023. On June 14, 2023, the town of Suluk (15 kilometers east of occupied Girê Spi) witnessed a heinous crime in which the child Hamoud Khader al-Sultan (6) was killed. years) by a group of Ahrar al-Sharqiya mercenaries involved in the human organ trade, led by the mercenary Khaled Alloush, nicknamed Jarrah.

On July 18, the young man Fayez Ali Al-Hajo, from the village of Kafifa (20 kilometers southwest of occupied Girê Spi), died as a result of wounds he sustained as a result of being run over by a Turkish occupation military armored vehicle.

On September 10, the young man, “Muhammad Khalil Al-Muhammad,” from the occupied city of Girê Spi, died as a result of a gunshot wound he sustained from the mercenaries of the “Third Corps” of the Turkish occupation, members of the “Abu Amer” and “Abu Ahmed Al-Shami” groups, affiliated with the aforementioned Corps.

Mass extortions and kidnappings

Kidnapping is considered one of the means by which the Turkish occupation mercenaries earn money by blackmailing the families of the kidnapped by paying sums of money in exchange for their release. During the year 2023, ANHA agency documented the kidnapping of a number of civilians. On March 16, a group of “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” mercenaries kidnapped the citizen Muhammad Ali Osman. From the village of Al-Zeibiya in the Girê Spi countryside.

The incident was followed the following month, specifically on April 6, when the mercenaries kidnapped the young man, Muhammad Al-Aujan, from the people of the Al-Manbatah neighborhood, and stole $7,000 in addition to collectibles and personal property belonging to him and his wife (phones - gold jewelry).

On July 24, a group of so-called “Anti-Terrorism” mercenaries, led by the mercenary “Abu Rabi’ al-Adlabi,” kidnapped 9 civilians from eastern Girê Spi and demanded that their families pay a sum of 1,000 US dollars in exchange for the release of each one of them. Our agency, through its sources, was able to document their names are: Muayyad Al-Khalaf, Munir Al-Khalaf, Jassim Al-Arab, Issa Al-Mousa, Abdul-Sattar Al-Dakhil, Ibrahim Al-Omair, Ajeel Halibi, Saadoun Al-Ashej, and Ibrahim Al-Khalil.

On September 16, a group of “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” mercenaries kidnapped the young man, Tawfiq Iyada al-Halout, 25 years old, from the village of Al-Amayr, east of the village of Al-Shirkrak (30 kilometers north of occupied Girê Spi). He is from the Bedouin tribe, “Fakhr al-Shumailat.”

In retaliation for one of the mercenary leaders in occupied Girê Spi, a group of Levantine Front mercenaries, on the 7th of November, raided the wedding party of civilian Shaheen Ahmed, from the Kurdish component, and assaulted and beat him, his father, the father of the bride (Hajj Yusuf al-Hassan), and three of his cousins, and then kidnapped them. They were taken to one of their headquarters in the town of Ain al-Arous (2 kilometers south of occupied Girê Spi).

According to the information we obtained from our sources, this attack came in retaliation against the mercenary (Shihab al-Din Abu Yassin), the leader of the "Al-Jabha al-Shamiya" mercenaries, for the bride's father's refusal to marry his daughter to whom he had engaged months ago.

On November 27, the mercenaries kidnapped 3 citizens who were on their way to immigrate to Europe. They were Sardar Ahmed (27 years old), Ammar Ahmed (15 years old), and Nuran Ahmed (19 years old), and they were residents of the village of Bir Habash in occupied Girê Spi.

Dismissal and arrest” for anyone who objects...!

The Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries commit crimes against anyone who objects to its policies, whether through Turkification or otherwise. During the current year, ANHA agency documented the dismissal of 11 employees and their subsequent arrest for rejecting the occupier’s policy aimed at stripping away their identity and culture.

At the beginning of the school year, specifically on the 21st of October, the so-called “Tal Abyad Local Council” affiliated with the Turkish occupation dismissed 5 teachers for their objection to introducing the Turkish curriculum into schools, and the mercenaries then arrested them on charges of incitement and stirring up strife.

This was followed in the following month, on November 15, by the mercenaries arresting 6 employees from the Services Committee in the “Tal Abyad Municipality” after they were dismissed by the so-called “Tal Abyad Local Council”, for their opposition to naming public facilities with Turkish names, and on the same charge mentioned above. ANHA agency documented the names of 3 of them: Anas Al-Dakhil, Muhammad Ruwaished, and Mansour Al-Dandal.

Imposing Turkification and supporting to the terrorism

At the beginning of this year and on the 18th of January, the Turkish occupation state imposed the circulation of what is known as the Turkish national anthem orally and in writing, in addition to including pictures of national figures and symbols of the Turkish state in the school curricula.

It instructed its mercenaries in the local council to impose the singing of what is known as (the Turkish national anthem) in all the schools it runs at the beginning of each school week, which begins on (Sunday). This angered the students’ parents and some of them resorted to sending their children to private institutes as a response to the attack.

ANHA agency previously published pictures of Ataturk on the walls of public, service and educational facilities in occupied Girê Spi.

In light of the spread of extremist and nationalist thought, the occupying Turkish state imposes a curriculum on the students of the occupied schools, and runs, with a number of organizations of an extremist nature (Pakistani, Chechen, Gulf), a number of institutes and associations that spread it to support terrorism again.

Among the associations that are very active in opening and financing religious complexes in Girê Spi and its countryside are the Ansar Charitable Society and Bayt Al-Mal (the Pakistani National Relief Foundation), as they supervise and finance several institutes through which extremism is fueled, such as the Ubayy bin Kaab Institute in the town of Suluk, and the Omar bin Al-Khattab Institute in The town of Hammam al-Turkman, and the Rashid Institute in the center of Girê Spi, in addition to funding the opening of schools in which Turkey imposed its language on students, such as the Ahmed Yassin and Abu Bakr al-Siddiq School in the city center, and the Khirbet al-Riz School in its countryside.

Deteriorating service situation

The Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries are deliberately pursuing a policy of restricting the livelihood of those who remain steadfast in the occupied areas by rationing services and raising their prices so that people are unable to buy them in light of the difficult living and economic conditions in which they live. It has raised the price of an electric watt twice during the year 2023, the last of which was on the August 19th.

Frightening numbers of resettlement operations in occupied Girê Spi

The number of Syrian refugees forcibly deported from Turkish territory to occupied Girê Spi has reached more than 29 thousand, including 72 Iraqis, since officials of the Turkish occupation state announced their intention to deport a million Syrian refugees in implementation of its colonial plan on Syrian territory, as it brought Syrian citizens from the cities of (Hama - Idlib - Aleppo - Damascus countryside...) and other Syrian cities whose people fled to Turkey as a result of the events that have afflicted Syria since 2011, and it housed them in the homes of forcibly displaced people from those areas and freed them to seize their real estate properties (buildings - agricultural lands), in order to encourage them to live in.

Dozens of families of ISIS mercenaries who fled from Ain Issa camp after the Turkish occupation attack on Girê Spi in 2019 live after the Turkish occupier embraced them and housed them in the homes of forcibly displaced people. This paves the way for the return of ISIS mercenary activity.

This comes at the expense of those forcibly displaced from Girê Spi following its occupation, whose number exceeded 100,000 out of 150,000 of its original residents, who currently live in displacement camps in the cities of Raqqa and Tabqa and their countryside.

Popular anger against the practices of the occupier and his mercenaries

On the 14th and 17th of July 2023, occupied Girê Spi and the town of Suluk witnessed popular demonstrations, a general strike, and the suspension of work in all shops in protest against the poor living conditions in light of the mercenaries’ control over their daily lives, and the corruption of the so-called “local council,” which prevailed. The interests of those with influence over the interests of the people, and turning a blind eye to the actions of the mercenaries against the people, such as imposing royalties, kidnapping, extortion, etc., and turning a deaf ear to their complaints against them, each of which lasted for three consecutive days.

The most important reason for these demonstrations was the so-called “economic offices” run by mercenary leaders and controlling the livelihood and capabilities of the people of occupied Girê Spi, and they began to affect their livelihoods and sources of livelihood, in terms of imposing royalties on all goods entering and leaving occupied Girê Spi (building materials - Food supplies - agricultural materials, etc.).
