Freedom campaign completed the month
The spokeswoman for the “Freedom for Abdullah Ocalan, political solution to the Kurdish issue” campaign, Zubaida Zumrud, indicated that the campaign was launched in 74 centers around the world and has reached more than 100 centers, and pointed out that they are working to expand the fronts of struggle further. The campaign created great enthusiasm and maintained its agenda.
To demand the freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan and a political solution to the Kurdish issue, friends of the Kurds around the world launched, from Strasbourg, on October 10, a global campaign entitled “Freedom for Abdullah Ocalan, the political solution to the Kurdish issue.” This campaign was launched in 74 centers at the same time, and the statements were made in this regard, because it coincided with the leader Abdullah Ocalan turning 74 years of age.
Many representatives of unions, political parties, parliamentarians, activists, women, youth, civil society organizations, environmental advocacy groups, Nobel Peace Prize laureates, academics, politicians, artists, and writers joined the campaign, and the campaign is still joined and supported.
Today (November 10), the campaign completed its first month, and on this occasion, the co-chair of the Kurdistan Democratic Community Conference in Europe (KCKD-E) and spokeswoman for the “Freedom for Abdullah Ocalan, political solution to the Kurdish issue” campaign, Zubaida Zumrud, spoke to ANHA agency.
“Physical freedom and solution are linked together.”
Zubaida Zumrud pointed out that the October 10 campaign once again highlighted the ongoing struggle since the 25th for the physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, which has become a global struggle. She continued: “The Kurdish people and friends of the Kurds who believe in the thought of leader Apo have been fighting for their physical freedom since the 25th.” In general, this struggle has become global, as leader Apo, with his example and struggle, has become a leader of the peoples. No information has been received from him for a long time, and contact with him has been cut off. We do not know what is happening on Imrali Island, and this raises great fears in us, so the campaign was launched against the conspiracy, and the severe isolation, the arrest of leader Apo, and the violence practiced against the Kurdish people. The campaign has been prepared for a long time. Before now, there was a campaign, “Time for Freedom,” and we have now taken it to another level and launched the campaign, “Freedom for leader Apo, the solution to the Kurdish issue.” The physical freedom of leader Apo, the Kurdish issue, and the Middle East are linked to each other. Leader Apo said in recent meetings, “Give me 24 hours and I will solve the Kurdish issue and the Middle East problem as well.” And everyone knows that if leader Apo were released today, the war in the Middle East would end and there would be lasting peace. Zubaida highlighted the expansion of the campaign to other centers around the world, and said: “We first launched the campaign in 74 centers and now it has exceeded 100. Today, well-known figures and parliamentarians are seeking to expand the struggle front further, and this campaign is not isolated or separated from society. We are organizing the Kurdish community and its friends.” Of course, we also have plans in this regard. As for the communities that we do not reach, they are organized by friends of the Kurds, and all of this is for everyone to participate in the campaign and fight for it.”

Zubaida pointed out that they launched the campaign in Europe because it is the center of the decision to arrest Leader Abdullah Ocalan, hand him over to the Turkish state, and impose isolation on him. She commented on the positions of the European Committee against Torture and human rights organizations: “Launching the campaign in Europe has significance, as it is the center of the decision to arrest Leader Apo, hand him over, and impose isolation on him.” Europe is isolated, and the Turkish state did not have the ability and power to arrest leader Apo and detain him on Imrali Island, and it does not have the ability now to impose isolation on its own. It is the international powers that give power to the Turkish state and turn a blind eye to it. Human rights in Turkey are being violated. The laws there are abolished, but bodies based in Europe, such as human rights and the European Union, turn a blind eye to them. The Committee against Torture must expose the torture practiced in Imrali, but it is subject to the control of politics. Unfortunately, so far, and within the framework of the struggle we are waging, no institutions have come forward like the Committee against Torture. Torture or human rights organization has no answers or information, so our goal is to urge these institutions to take action to carry out their basic duties and warn countries. We have launched this campaign until it bears fruit.

The end of this campaign depends on breaking down the walls of Imrali. We will achieve the desired result when we form the organization of leader Apo in the smallest place. The foundation of the struggle for the freedom of leader Apo has been laid, but we must work to spread this struggle throughout the world."
Future plan
The campaign’s spokeswoman, Zubaida Zumrud, revealed the campaign’s plan for the coming periods: “During the coming periods, marches and meetings will be organized in countries. On November 11, there will be a youth march, and joint activities between the Kurdish women’s movement and foreign women will also continue, and on October 18 On the second of this month, a large mass march will be organized in Berlin on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Germany’s decision to ban the Kurdistan Workers’ Party. This march is to demand the lifting of this ban on the Kurdistan Workers’ Party and for the sake of the campaign. The decision to lift the ban on the Kurdistan Workers’ Party will open the door to Imrali itself.”

Zubaida Zumrud called on all the peoples of the world to adopt the campaign, organize it, and join it through resistance. She said: “Foreign friends may be the ones who launched the campaign, but our people must adopt it and pay more attention to it. These friends are friends of leader Apo’s philosophy and model. Everyone now wants to organize themselves that are based on the model of leader Apo that has spread throughout the world, and those who stand against this model are the dominant countries.
