Forthcoming meeting to discuss education, accrediting certificates of DAA

According to governmental sources and others within the DAA, ANHA agency reported that a forthcoming meeting is scheduled to be held in the province of Hasakah. The meeting is expected to bring together the Education Authority and the Universities Coordination Body in North and East Syria, along with the Ministries of Education and Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Syrian Interim Government.

According to the sources, the meeting will address several educational files, foremost among them the discussion of a mechanism for the recognition and equivalency of certificates issued under the DAA curricula across different educational levels, including preparatory, secondary, and university education.

The sources indicated that the meeting, scheduled to take place during the coming week, comes within the framework of continuing efforts to implement the provisions of the 29 January agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the interim government, related to the file of institutional integration between the two sides.

On 17 February of this year, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the interim government, Marwan Al-Halabi, confirmed that restoring higher education institutions to their full role in the Jazira region represents a national priority that cannot be postponed, as part of strengthening academic stability and supporting the educational process.

This came during his visit to the Euphrates University branch in Raqqa, where Al-Halabi also announced the formation of a ministerial committee tasked with completing procedures for integrating the University of the East into the Euphrates University branch, while ensuring the preservation of the rights of all students.

He emphasized the ministry’s commitment to supporting the faculties of the Euphrates University branch and providing them with the necessary staff, as well as ensuring a stable educational environment suitable for students. He also stressed that the certificates of graduates from the University of the East in previous years will be accredited in accordance with the governing legal frameworks.

It is worth noting that the University of the East was one of the universities affiliated with the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the North and East Syria region, with its headquarters in the city of Raqqa.
